Most Armor Ballistic Shields deployed and in use among United States Law Enforcement Agencies are not rated to provide any protection against rifle fire.

And those departments that did plan for better protection, paid three times more for this higher level of protection. However, these high-level Polyethylene Level lll Rifle Rated Shields do not provide protection against common street threats such as 5.56mm and 7.62x39mm calibers. These are known to penetrate Polyethylene Level lll armor.

We at RTS Tactical set out to fix this problem. The objective? To produce and provide an effective Rifle-rated Proudly Made In America Shield at a price that will leave no one in uniform unprotected. The advantage of the RTS “Mini Shield” is quick deployment and effective protection from street threats required by the DEA Body Armor Testing Protocols. This includes the calibers mentioned below.

• 5.56x45mm 62 gr. M855 (Green Tip) 
• Russian 7.62x39mm 123 gr. MSC (M43)
• 7.62×51mm NATO M80 FMJ
• NIJ 0101.06 Level III+

Unlike Polyethylene which does not effectively stop 5.56mm rounds or mild core AK rounds, this Mini Shield steel will stop multiple Special Threat rated fast rounds.

The shield is less than 0.25” in thickness and encapsulated in a Polyurea coating ensuring long-term durable use.

The RTS Tactical Mini Shield will not crack if dropped or deform from long exposure to heat.

The RTS Mini Shield is equipped with a heavy-duty handle and a quick-release strapping system. This enhances mobility while using the Mini Shield.

In keeping with RTS’s attention to detail and focus on safety, the Mini Shield is fitted with an oversize Trauma Pad system designed to absorb the impact of incoming rounds.
